Dr. Manita Fadele loved medicine and she loved children. But God had another call on her life: pastor’s wife.

Manita Fadele never planned on being a pastor’s wife. Her husband James worked as an engineer for Ford, and she had a successful private pediatric practice in suburban Detroit. Then Pastor Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, a Nigerian Pentecostal denomination, called on James, a native of Nigeria, to plant the first “Redeemed” congregation in the United States. It was launched in 1993 in the Fadeles’ basement, with all of three members.
