You may have read about how King David of Israel danced naked after his coronation. David was dancing practically naked because he was so overwhelmed with joy that the captured ark of God, which even king Saul cared less about, was retrieved and brought back to Israel. So he danced before all his subjects, saying to them in essence, I am naked, bare, nothing before this GREAT AND AWESOME GOD and I’m unashamed to let the world know my deep humility, reverence and love for this God. More importantly, he was saying “As the deer pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after thee, O God” (Psalms 42:1).
Now see a prophetic mystery regarding David’s reward from God as a result of this heartfelt, sincere gesture of love expressed to the Lord. The preceding king Saul was spiritually stripped of the ordination and mantle of God as king, but even moreso, the Lord declared that no seed of Saul will ever occupy the throne of Israel because a better man whose heart was truly after God, had been found in David.
In Saul’s craftiness, after being cursed by the prophet for dishonoring Gods instructions, he tactically ensured that whoever that would reign in his stead, had to marry his daughter, so that he could still have a grandson with his bloodline on israel’s throne, hoping to override God’s word.
Well, the prophetic nature of David’s seemingly crazy dance of love unto the Lord was this: when Michal, David’s wife who was used to aristocracy, saw him reduce himself so low before Israel, not minding that he was humbling himself before God Almighty, (something her dad would never do), she despised David vehemently. Immediately after she rebuked David for being so “unkingly”, even though she knew that he was celebrating and honoring God, her womb became shut permanently. Saul’s legacy of royalty was virtually terminated forever.
As David was gesturing with a love dance unto God, Michal was despising David and unwittingly despising God, and God was sealing the deal to ensure that Saul’s bloodline would never sit on Israel’s throne.
God’s heartbeat is that you not ever be intimidated about expressing your sincere, heartfelt love for God Almighty, anywhere and anyhow that pleases God. It could be a prophetic gesture of unimaginable blessings to your destiny.
2 Samuel 6:14-16
And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. 16 And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised himself her heart.
2 Samuel 6:20-23
Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! 21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord. 22 And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. 23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
Imagine being the head of your nation’s army and you are in a state of red alert because of impending war. The real threat is that this war was brought your nation by a conglomerate of six superpower nations, each one stronger in armaments and manpower than you are. Then, all of a sudden, your Spirit-filled president issues an executive order to the army saying, “soldiers, when you stand at the battlefront, sheath your swords and sing with dancing before Lord. While you are at it, don’t forget to make it glorious by going along with a pianist, harpist, bass-guitarist, saxophonist, some violinists and lead guitarist too”. Wouldn’t you say he was crazy?
Sometimes, crazy love for God displayed in praise and worship is prophetic and spiritually powerful in nature, especially when it is demanded by God. It can trigger dimensions of the spirit realm which are unbeknownst to the natural mind, just as was the case with Jehoshaphat and the besieged army of Israel.
In response to Gods instruction not to fight this intimidating battle, Jehoshaphat turned the battlefront into a solemn praise party. Little did he know that while they were “praising the beauty of Gods holiness” before everyone, the angels were being activated against Israel’s enemies, setting them one against each other in “ambushments”, until they totally annihilated each other.
Indeed, “…the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14).
Gods Heartbeat is that you get Spiritual by pushing some heavenly buttons in the face of intimidating giants, by your glorious praise. Selah!
2 Chronicles 20:10-12
And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not; 11 Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit. 12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
2 Chronicles 20:15-17
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. 17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.
2 Chronicles 20:20-22
And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
2 Chronicles 20:29-30
And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the Lord fought against the enemies of Israel. 30 So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.
