If there is anything the enemy loves, is the failure of divine destinies. He loves failure and dislikes success. He will always try to abort a success plan before it takes off. He is only interested to abort a dream before its fulfillment. His mission as usual is, to steal, to kill, and to destroy. John 10:10, and continually, he moves to and fro looking for whom to destroy. 1 Peter 5:8. For every divine dream, there is always a plot from the pit of hell to cause a miscarriage or total stoppage.
Every dreamer must know this. Hence the Bible warns; “Do not be ignorant of the devices of the evil one, lest he take advantage of us” 2 Corinthians 2:11. Eve failed to adhere to this instruction and caused the fall and subsequent curse upon man. Genesis 3:1-19. Noah’s generation were ignorant of this and ended up flushed to death by flood. Genesis 6:1-7. The Devil applied the force of impatience on Sarah, who later lured Abraham into a premature adventure for a heir not ordained by God, which has resulted to unending middle east crisis. Genesis 16:1-12.
In Genesis 37, Joseph’s dream of greatness attracted envy, which led to the wicked plot against him to abort divine destiny. “Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him” Then they said to one another, look, this dreamer is coming!. Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit, and we shall say, some wild beast has devoured him. We shall see what will become of his dreams”. Genesis 37:18-20. The prime concern of the enemy, is to kill the dream. “We shall see what will become of his dreams”.
The same case was applied to Samson. The Philistines employed a woman Delilah to ensure the end of his divine destiny. “And the Lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, entice him, and find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may over power him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and everyone of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver”. Judges 16:5. The enemies desire was to know his secret, over power him, bind him, and afflict him. Why? Because, he was a threat to their evil domination of cities around them.
David’s case is very familiar. Saul sought him all over town to kill him, because he knew God has destined him for greatness. Genesis 18:12. Saul placed a dowry of 100 fore-skins of the Philistines for his marriage to Michal, his daughter. “Then Saul said, thus you shall say to David: the King does not desire any dowry but one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the King’s enemies” But Saul though to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines”. 1 Samuel 18:25.
The enemy (Saul) was not interested in the dowry, but the death of David. When the plot failed, he issued a decree for the murder of David. “Now Saul spoke to Jonathan his Son and to all his servants, that they should kill David; but Jonathan, Saul’s son delighted greatly in David”. 1 Samuel 19:1. All the plots of Saul failed because God was with David. Our Lord Jesus Christ birth, also attracted a plot by Herod to snuff out divine destiny. “When Herod the King heard this, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him” Matthew 2:3.
Because, Herod was troubled, he plotted for the execution of the Lord in infancy. “Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the Wise Men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the Wise Men”. Matthew 2:16. After Herod’s plot failed, the Devil came again in Matthew 4:1-11 to tempt the Lord, with the same intention, “kill the dream”. Yet, another plot to abort a divine destiny.
Beloved, there is something in you, the enemy is troubled about and is eager to terminate. Don’t let the failure, discouragements, disappointments, and betrayals you are facing now deter you. Let them not weigh you down, rather use them as stepping stones to your dreams.
Always bear in mind that in all these minuses, there is something to learn out of them to aid your dream, discover them and use them. Be determined not to give up. Pray consistently and fervently. Get drunk in the work of God; learn from the superiors in the Bible. Above all, be of good conduct in order not to grieve the spirit of God. The Lord promised, “He will never leave nor forsake you”. It is a promise with an assurance of fulfillment. Hold on.Read more in my ebook 9 steps to fulfilling your dream.
