On getting there, she froze on the spot. The air conditioner in Aunt Paula’s window was on fire. Flames licked at the window pane and Tiffani could see and smell the smoke rising steadily into the air. She had to think fast there and then.

Tiffani Williams, a single mother and a material handler for FedEx spent her whole life working hard to raise her three children. She walked a lot on the job and eventually it began to take its toll when she suffered a knee injury on the job. The injury was so severe; she tore her ACL (Anterior cruciate ligament) and her meniscus and required extensive surgery. Afterwards, she could not walk until she was fully recovered. This meant she was going to be out of work for a long period of time. Inspite of her condition and taking care of her 3 children, she was also responsible for taking care of her Aunt Paula Turner who has cerebral palsy, scoliosis, and a trache – she has been disabled her entire life.
Tragedy struck on August 11, 2017. Tiffani was recovering from her surgery and decided to take a nap. Her children 6, 13, and 17 were in school and Aunt Paula who was hooked up to her C-Pap breathing apparatus was also napping down the hall. Suddenly, Tiffani was awoken from her sleep by an unusual noise.
Unknown to Tiffani, Aunt Paula had mistakenly pulled off her breathing apparatus in her sleep. An alarm attached to the device went off. This was what woke Tiffani from her sleep. She quickly grabbed her crutches and made her way to her Aunt’s room.
In a flash, Tiffani limped over to the window and grabbed and pulled the huge curtain from the window before it caught fire. She placed it on the floor, pulled my aunt out the bed onto the floor and on top of the curtain. Then she proceeded to scoot on her bottom and pull the curtain and her aunt all at once. Time wasn’t on their side.
“It’s nothing but God,” Tiffani said when asked about how she got out with her Aunt. “I am deeply saddened that my kids, including my two adopted children who are adults now, my grandkids, and the rest of the family have no where to hold birthday parties, holiday dinners, and just plan family get togethers anymore as this is where we have been for the last 4 years, but I have nothing but praise in my heart for the Lord sparing us on that day, but we are now set with the task of starting over. Anything will help. May God bless you all.“I know that he was there” she added.
